don’t need you – the herstory of riot grrrl is a comprehensive documentary on the Riot Grrrl movement of the ‘90s which spawned such groundbreaking bands as Bikini Kill, Sleater-Kinney, Bratmobile, Huggy Bear, etc. and is responsible for empowering young women all over the world to do their own bands, zines, record labels, distros, show booking, etc. Director Kerri Koch has done an excellent job combining both archival ‘90s footage and photos with recent interviews with many of the principals of the Riot Grrrl movement, including Kathleen Hanna, Corin Tucker, Allison Wolfe, Madigan Shive and Ian MacKaye, the de facto “godfather” (for lack of a better word) of the movement.
